Message from the Director

The First AI, IoT, and Data Science Research Hub Integrating Medicine, Agriculture, Engineering, and Education in the Tokai Region

Artificial intelligence and big data analysis are no longer limited to the field of information engineering. These technologies are now extending into various academic domains, including AI-based diagnosis, surgery, and treatment support, as well as the development of advanced functional materials such as pharmaceuticals and battery components.
Within Gifu University—and throughout the entire Gifu region—there is a growing need for an educational and research hub dedicated to these emerging technologies.

The Artificial Intelligence Research Promotion Center was established on April 1, 2019, with the goal of serving as a foundational center that disseminates cutting-edge technologies in AI, IoT, and data science across the university, facilitates interdisciplinary collaboration among faculties, and promotes world-leading advanced research.

In addition to these objectives, the Center aims to strengthen the university’s overall research infrastructure in AI and data science through technical guidance for faculty members, provide students with up-to-date education in these fields, support collaborative research with local industries, and offer recurrent education opportunities for working professionals. Through these activities, the Center strives to become a regional hub for advanced technology and AI human-resource development, contributing to the growth of local industries.
